How To Turn A Fling Into A Serious Relationship

1. Be Confident

Make eye contact with your date while listening to their tales, always accept their compliments, never turn them down just because you are shy or insecure, instead just thank them and continue your conversation. Confidence is powerful, never underestimate it.

2. Take good care of yourself

How well you care for your physical health and appearance is something that people pay attention to, so it is worth investing in it some extra time and energy while you are trying to build a serious relationship and include this in your daily routine. People will easily notice if you don’t take care of yourself and this may make someone lose interest if they think you are not cautious about your health. Looking your best does not mean you need to change who you are or your style, however, working out, eating healthy and wearing flattering clothing always helps.

3. Put your personality forward, show them who you truly are

Make sure that your personality shines through and he/she knows about your hobbies or anything that excites you. Being passionate about something is very attractive. Be proud of your accomplishments and openly share them with your crush. People admire this and usually find it refreshing.

4. Be kind

Kindness is key and that starts at the very first moment you meet someone, some people tend to avoid being too nice at the beginning of a relationship not to be perceived as naïve or worse needy. They use distance and arrogance instead as a protection mechanism, which can destroy any chance of ending up with the person you are dating, especially if the person is genuine and kind to you.

5. Avoid being too intrusive

You might be genuinely interested in your date and want to know as much as possible about them. However, your date might be reserved and slow to open up, many people need to establish trust before sharing personal details. Respect their privacy and don’t be pushy or aggressive when you ask questions, be vague and let them share whatever they are comfortable sharing with you at this stage.

6. Forget perfection and aim for connection

Some people struggle to meet someone because their standards are way too high. We might be attracted to someone, but wish they were taller, had more hair, or were wealthier.

We tend to forget that when we fall in love with someone, we don’t get to pick and choose which part of the person we will keep. Nobody is perfect “including you”. So, aiming for perfection is wrong as you will never find it. Instead, focus on making a connection with a real person, accept the fact that this connection involves diverse personality traits you were not attracted by at first. That is part of being in an honest and strong relationship.
